Artemis

Artemis is the Olympian goddess of the hunt, the moon, and chastity; in time, she also became associated with childbirth and nature. No more than few days old, she helped her mother Leto give birth to her twin brother Apollo. Artemis was very protective of her and her priestesses’ innocence. Consequently, she wasn’t very nice when some of them weren’t so careful.

Artemis' Role

Even though Plato says that the name “Artemis” is related to her virginity and the Ancient Greek word for “unharmed” or “pure,” we now know that its origin is undoubtedly different and possibly even Persian. However, scholars can’t agree over its original meaning.

Portrayal and Symbolism

Sculptors, poets, and painters, however, had no such problems. Artemis is almost universally depicted as a young, beautiful and vigorous huntress carrying a quiver with arrows and holding a bow, typically wearing a short knee-high tunic and often accompanied by some animal (stag, doe, or hunting dogs). As a moon goddess, she is sometimes represented wearing a long robe and a crescent moon crown.

Epithets

Homer calls Artemis either “The Mistress of Animals” or “She of the Wild.” As a huntress, she is also often referred to as “arrow-pouring” or “deer-shooting.” Just like her brother, she may be occasionally called “bright” or, even more, illustrative of her function as a moon goddess, “torch-bringer.”

Akhenaten was pharaoh during the eighteenth dynasty (aprox. 1351-1336 BC). His wife Nefertiti ruled at his side, a first of many changes he brought to Egypt. He began his reign as the Egyptian Pharaoh Amenhotep IV (later Akhenaten), and was father-in-law of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen. He lived in Tell El Amarna, a city constructed by the pharaoh to worship the god Aten. During his reign, Egypt went about many radical religious changes. Hundreds of years of culture and worship had been exchanged for a new radical concept - Henotheism. Akhenaten and Nefertiti understood the many gods, were all attributes of one god, they tried to relate the combined power available in henotheism, through worshiping Aten.

Akhenaten and Nefertiti's god was "The Rahorus who rejoices in the horizon, in his/her Name of the Light" which is seen in the sun disc. This lengthy name was often shortened to Ra-Horus-Aten or just Aten in many texts, but the god of Akhenaten raised to supremacy is considered a synthesis of very ancient gods viewed in a new and different way. Both Ra and Horus of the two horizons characteristics are part of the god, but the god is also considered to be both masculine and feminine simultaneously. All creation was thought to emanate from the god and to exist within the god. In particular, the god was not depicted in anthropomorphic (human) form, but as rays of light extending from the sun's disk. Furthermore, the god's name came to be written within a cartouche, along with the titles normally given to a Pharaoh, another break with ancient tradition.

This form of worship was the realization that god is the universe and we are all part of it. It also shows respect and love for all creation, it shows acceptance and equality, regardless of gender or race. Centuries before their times, they were trying to show how a respect for each other only makes us stronger.

Akhenaten is attributed with writing The Great Hymn of Aten. The hymn describes the depth of human sleep and awakening to daylight, it tells of lands, pastures, animals, all expressing the joy of warmth in sunlight, and of the growth of plants, and creatures in the daily sustenance of the sun. It shows great tolerance for foreigners, love for wisdom, and faith. It shows the honor in humility and the gracious glory of gratitude. The hymn portrays the sun as the giver of all life, plunging the land into darkness during the night, to reawaken to life, daily work and praise with the dawn. There is great emphasis on the diversity and holiness of all living things, who praise the Aten with their every action. Clearly, it is the understanding of their deity and creator that gives Akhenaten and Nefertiti the spiritual foundation to build a beautiful life, family, and kingdom around their dedication and strength in their united love.

Ba of Anubis

Anubis is one of the most prominent and mystical gods of ancient Egypt . He was known since the earliest periods in the history of the civilization that was based near the Nile River. Medjed (meaning "the Smiter") is the God who “shooteth forth light from his eyes, but is himself invisible” and who “revolveth in heavens inside a flame produced by his own mouth, whilst his own form is invisible”. Budge (1904) reports that Medjed watches over Osiris during the 1st hour of the day and the 12th hour of the night; this is in line with the passage in Spell 17 of "The Book of The Dead" where Medjed is said to belong to the House of Osiris. A person´s ba was not their soul, but their essence (it can be translated as power, effectiveness, reputation or charisma), and the ba was represented by the hieroglyph for a "ram".

During the late period, the Greeks who mispronounced the phrase ba-neb-djetet (‘ram lord of djedet’) and named the city Mendes referred to Banebdjed as ‘the Goat of Mendes’. "The goat of Mendes" has been linked by some esoteric scholars to Baphomet (the "false god" the Templars were accused of worshiping) and transformed into a satanic stereotype by others. The only slight problem with this is that Banebdjedt was not a goat, but a ram, and he (or she) was not considered to be evil or even aggressive.

After the murder of Osiris, Isis was taken prisoner by Seth and put in a weaving house. As she sits and weaves the mummy wrappings for Osiris, Thoth liberates her and advises her to find a hiding place for her young son Horus. Isis wanders, looking for a hidingplace from Set, carrying her baby son in her arms. For her protection Thoth sent seven scorpions to go in front of her. (Seven was a number of great power in ancient Egypt.) Three scorpions go in front of her: Petet, Tjetet and Matet. The next two: Mesetet and Mesetef go under her palanquin, and Tefen and Befen bring up the rear. Isis warns them to be careful and keep quiet so as to not alert Seth to their whereabouts.

One day she reached the Town of the Two Sisters in the Nile Delta, where she stopped by a big, wealthy-looking house to ask for food and a resting-place. But the rich woman living there was scared by the sight of the seven scorpions and closed the door on Isis. When she wearily prepared to walk on, a poor fisher woman approached them and offered them to share her meager meal. While Isis rested, Tefen and the rest of the scorpions decided to take their revenge on the rich woman who had denied them help, and during the night they all loaded their poison onto Tefen who crept into the wealthy house and stung the child. The mother woke up by the cries of her son and ran in search of help, carrying the small child in her arms, but no one offered her help or knew what to do.

Her cries woke up Isis, who soon found out what had been done, and, looking down at her own child, who slept calmly, she felt pity for the rich mother and decided not to let an innocent child die. And Isis uttered words of great power, named each of the scorpions by their names, which meant that she dominated them. Thereby she ordered the poison of Tefen to leave the body of the boy who soon could breathe again. This meant that the spell could be used for any child who got stung by a venomous bite, together with a medical prescription of barley-bread, garlic and salt.

When the mother understood whom she had refused, she became very regretful, collected all her possessions and carried them over to the poor woman's house, trying to make amends for her pride. Isis rejoiced on behalf of the poor woman, and the next day she resumed her journey. Serket, sometimes seen as an aspect of Isis, is the healing goddess of stings and bites. She is the daughter of Ra the sun god, and the wife of Horus and the mother of Harakhety (Horus of the horizon). Serket was considered a highly important goddess, and was sometimes considered by pharaohs to be their patron. Her close association with the early kings implies that she was their protector, two being referred to as the scorpion kings.

Serket also was considered a protector of the dead, particularly being associated with poisons and fluids causing stiffening. She was thus said to be the protector of the tents of embalmers, and of the canopic jar associated with poison-the jar of the intestine-which was deified later as Qebehsenuf, one of the Four sons of Horus. She also protects mothers and children, and helps to relieve the pain of childbirth.

The Real Scorpion King I, who had Serket inscribed in his tomb in Abydos in Upper Egypt, also had medicine jars which date from circa 3150 B.C. Nun and Naunet represented the primeval waters; Heh and Hauhet represented eternity; Kuk and Kuaket represented darkness; and Amun and Amaunet represented air (or that which is hidden). The gods were all depicted with frog´s heads, while the goddesses had the heads of serpents.

It is important to note that this system represents the theory of how the universe was created, even predating the creation of the gods and mankind. It is very similar to the present day understanding of the Big Bang Theory. Of these primordial powers or gods, only Amun went on to be considered as more than a primeval force. The first held that the world was born from a cosmic egg created by the gods of the Ogdoad. It was invisible as the sun had not yet been born. When it opened, it revealed the "bird of light" much like the phoenix, an aspect of the sun god Re or Ra. Alternatively, the egg was laid by a celestial bird called the Gengen Wer. The primeval goose, associated with Amun, who took this form as a creator god. When Re hatched from the egg, he created the world and everything in it. The second version says that the egg was laid by an ibis, a bird sacred to Thoth. However, the cult of Thoth developed after the original myth of the Ogdoad, so it is could be that this story was an attempt to incorporate Thoth into the pre-existing Ogdoad.

The third myth states that a lotus flower emerged from the waters of the Sea of the Two Knives, a lake near to the temple in Hermopolis. The petals opened to reveal Re who then created the world. The fourth myth is similar, except it held that a scarab beetle Khepri - the symbol of the rising sun was revealed when the petals opened. The scarab transformed into a young boy whose tears formed the first human beings. The boy is generally considered to be Nefertum the young Atum, later considered to be the infant Horus. The similarities of the four creation stories and the known completeness of the number four, bring added power to these beings as they contain elements of all of the powers derived from these myths and other systems.

The Werefrit has a nature unlike either parent and cannot reproduce Werefrits. They are a hybrid! It is a genetic cross breed exclusive to the breeding of these two species. This hybrid nature makes them rare and exclusive. And the skills they possess are phenomenal!

Unlike some Jinn who can shapeshift (exhibit temporary physical changes such as alterations of age, gender, race, or general appearance or changes between human form and that of an animal, plant, or inanimate object.) The Werefrit does not simply shapeshift… It undergoes transformation. Transformation is the genetic alteration of a body resulting in the expression of foreign genetic material. In simple terms this means, its power is innate energy at a cellular level and it is intense.

The Nature of the Werefrit:
The Ifrit are described as being enormous both in height and girth and, often, as having horns on the head. This is also the appearance of the Werefrit except they are also more beast-like in their natural states. Their greatest magical asset is speed! They have a magical agility that surpasses other beings and allows them to manifest the commands or wishes made of them in much faster times than other Djinn. This makes them valuable as apprentice magi and assistants to the Doonay.
